Rapper Fred the Godson dies of COVID-19 complications

New York rapper Fred the Godson died of COVID-19 related complications at the age of 35. The news was confirmed by his friend DJ Self on Instagram.
“(Fred) was loved by many never heard one bad thing about you RIP @fredthegodsonmusic Sleep Well my brother,” he captioned the post with pictures of Fred.
Many celebrities from the music industry paid tribute to the rapper through the post. His collaborator Jaquae also paid his respect. He wrote, “Sleep in peace my brother…. You’ll never be forgotten. LOVE U MAN. I have so much things to say but I’m lost right now.”
A spokesperson for Fred the Godson had told The Source on Wednesday that he was doing well while in the intensive care unit for COVID-19. The spokesperson said that his kidneys were not functioning but his fever was down. Fred was more susceptible to the disease as he suffered from asthma.
The rapper had shared an Instagram post on April 7, where Fred updated his followers on his COVID-19 diagnosis. He had a respirator mask on his face at the hospital.
“I’m in here wit this Corvus 19 shit! Please keep me in y’all prayers!!!! #godisgreat,” he wrote in the caption.
Fred was a member of the 2011 XXL Freshman class and released mixtape City of God in 2012.
Fred the Godson isn’t the first renowned personality to succumb to COVID-19. Terrence McNally, who was a four-time Tony Award-winning playwright, also died on March 24 due to coronavirus complications. In addition, Italian actress Lucia Bose and Grammy-Winning Singer John Prine also died due to a similar diagnosis. These are just a few names in a long list of celebrities that have died due to COVID-19.
