Shocker: Ranveer Singh stapled his stomach to depict pain
Ranveer Singh reveals he had stapled the sides of his stomach to depict pain in Lootera.
Gully Boy star Ranveer Singh is known to go to great lengths to get into the skin of the characters he plays onscreen. It is common knowledge the actor had locked himself up for 21 days to depict the role of an antagonist in period drama Padmaavat. Recently on a chat show, he made a shocking revelation that will give you goosebumps for sure.
As reported by HT, On film critic, Anupama Chopra’s chat show Ranveer Singh revealed how he had stapled the sides of his stomach for a scene in Lootera.
During an actors’ roundtable, Anupama said that she had read about Ranveer stapling the sides of his stomach to depict pain for Lootera. Also that he would hit himself there to get the right expression.
Ranveer accepted it and said, “At that time I was very raw as an actor, exploring my craft. I didn’t know how to do it. Back then, I am thinking to myself: ‘I have never been shot, now I am going to get shot. So how am I going to depict a real sort of pain on screen?’ Now when I look back on Lootera, I watch the scenes and feel discomfort, because it takes me back to a memory of an immense amount of physical pain. It’s all real. But today, I know that there is another way of creating that effect.”
On the work front, Ranveer Singh will soon be seen playing the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in ’83’. The Kabir Khan directorial is all about India winning the cricket World Cup in 1983 despite being the underdogs.
The movie will have real-life husband-wife Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh playing the role of onscreen husband-wife. Deepika is playing the role of Kapil’s wife, Romi, in the film.
