Ranji Trophy: Siddhesh Lad lead Mumbai’s fightback against Maharashtra
Stand-in captain Siddhesh Lad and the Mumbai bowlers staged a fightback for their team on the second day of their match against Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy.
They ended their day’s effort at 196/5, 156 runs short of Maharashtra’s first innings score of 352. Medium pacer Akash Parkar was the best bowler for Mumbai with four wickets at the cost of 56 runs.
But Lad was the one who continued Mumbai’s fightback in the match. In his 151-run knock which yielded 70 runs, he hit nine fours and a six and stitched a 109-run stand with veteran opener Aditya Tare (63). Just when it looked as if the going got easier for the 41-time Ranji Trophy champions, Maharashtra pegged their innings back with three quick dismissals.
