A batting collapse on Delhi’s part has further bolstered the chances of Punjab to record a dominant victory in their Ranji Trophy match on Thursday.

After they were shot out for just 107 in their first innings, they could barely manage to scrape through and post 106/6 at the end of the second day’s play in response to Punjab’s 282.
Interestingly, Delhi got off to a flying start with openers Gautam Gambhir and Hiten Dalal adding 72 runs for the first wicket. But Dalal soon was trapped in front by left-arm spin bowler Vinay Choudhary.

He once again got into the action by dismissing Dhruv Shorey just two balls later. Nitish Rana was shown the way back to the pavilion by Siddharth Kaul before he returned to dismiss Himmat Singh and Gambhir in one single over as Delhi were left rattled at 99/4.

In Chennai, Bengal suffered a batting collapse as they were shot out for a meagre 189 in their first innings in response to Tamil Nadu’s 263. Left-arm spinner Rahil Shah took five wickets as none in the entire batting line-up could stand up and show resistance barring opener Abhishek Raman, who toiled hard for a 98 but missed out a well-deserved hundred.
