Randhir Kapoor rubbished the reports suggesting his brother Rishi Kapoor has been diagnosed with advanced stage cancer. Despite before leaving for the US, he had informed his fans that he is taking a short leave from films to undergo some medical treatment in the US.
The speculations mounted over Rishi Kapoor’s health when he was not seen at the cremation ceremony of his mother Krishna Raj Kapoor. Following her funeral, reports started doing rounds on social media, he is suffering from stage III cancer.
Rishi had tweeted, “Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years “plus” of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!”
Brother Randhir Kapoor called rumours a baseless saying that nature of Rishi Kapoor’s ailment is yet to be detected, and it was irresponsible of people to speculate.
Randhir Kapoor said, “We don’t know yet what is the exact nature of his ailment. Rishi himself doesn’t know what he’s suffering from. He has not even started undergoing tests there; how can people speculate that he has cancer and that too, one that has escalated to advanced stage. Let him undergo tests peacefully; whatever the results, we will let everyone know.”
He added, “He [Rishi] only reached America two-three days ago and so far, he was being prepared for the tests that he has to undergo. Depending on what the results are, his line of treatment, medication and other modalities will be decided upon. It’s not fair to speculate things just like that.”
He further said, his son Ranbir Kapoor and his wife Neetu Kapoor are with him in the US. His upcoming film along with Juhi Chawla has been put on hold for some time.
Randhir Kapoor further said, “Rishi’s Kapoor’s absence was hugely missed at mother Krishna Raj Kapoor’s funeral.”
