The Rajkumar Hirani film based on Sanjay Dutt’s life titled ‘Sanju’ has taken not only the box-office in India by storm but is also minting money at the US box-office. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer collected $725,000 on it’s opening day to become the second highest opening day grossing Bollywood film after Aamir Khan’s PK.
The Ranbir Kapoor starrer has made Rs 34.75 crore on its opening day at the box-office. Now, trade experts are predicting that much like the Salman Khan starrer Race 3, the Rajkumar Hirani directed ‘Sanju’ too will hit the Rs.100 crore mark for its opening weekend box-office collections.
‘Sanju’ opened to become the sixth biggest opening day box office collection in the history of Bollywood films. While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Happy New Year’ had the biggest ever opening day at Rs 44.97 crore, Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion was at Rs 41 crore and Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo opened at Rs 40.35 crore to secure the number 3 spot. Sultan at Rs 36.54 and Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 at Rs 36.22 are at number 4 and 5.

The film also stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza and Paresh Rawal, among others.
Insiders from the industry are all praise for the Sanjay Dutt biopic as it seems to be raking in the good numbers and stats and is garnering praise from trade analysts and critics too.
As per early estimates, the movie has collected Rs. 39 crores on Saturday which thereby take its total two-day collections to Rs. 73 crore net worth and soon the film might enter the 100 crore-club despite being a non-holiday release.
‘Sanju’ is undoubtedly a very important film for Ranbir Kapoor, especially from the perspective of box-office success. Barring Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Ranbir’s last few films fell flat at the box-office. His last film before Sanju, Jagga Jasoos, saw him endure grave losses monetarily as he was also the producer of the film. However, Sanju’s success will put him back on track.
Just like Paresh Rawal says in the movie, “mera beta koi guzra waqt nahi hai jo laut ke nahi aa sakta” in the same manner, Ranbir seems to have come back with a bang to make his presence felt in the industry.
