Rana Daggubati to join hands with DAR Motion Picture to produce the biopic of Muttiah Muralitharan
Days after rumours were doing the rounds that Vijay Sethuathi will be seen playing the role of Muttiah Muralitharan in his biopic, Rana Daggubati has confirmed that he will produce the film. Yes, the biopic of Muttiah Muralidharan will be produced by DAR Motion Pictures, which has earlier helmed several movies including The Lunchbox. Rana Daggubati and Suresh Production will join hands to produce Muttiah Muralitharan biopic.
Directed by Tripathy Rangasamy, the biopic of Muralitharan will feature Vijay Sethupati in the lead role. Speaking about joining the hands with Sethupathi, Rana Daggubati said that he is quite excited to have him on board for the film, which will depict the journey of celebrated Sri Lankan cricketer.
“Suresh Productions is going to be associated with Dar films in telling the story of a legend through legendary actor – Vijay Sethupathi as Muttiah Muralitharan… Coming soon,” Rana said in a statement.
Rana Daggubati’s last production film was !Oh Baby, which turned out to be blockbuster. The biopic of Muralidharan is all set to go on floors in December 2019.
According to India Glitz, Vijay Sethupati has already started training for the film and has lost some weights to look perfect. According to reports, Muttiah Muralitharan himself will be personally involved in the project helping the actor perfect his bowling action and body language.
Notably, Muthaiah Muralitharan is the only cricketer who has taken 800 wickets in Test matches. The legendary player retired from international cricket in 2010 and he played his last Test match on 22 July 2010. Muralitharan still holds the record of having most wickets in Test and ODI. In 2017, he became the first Sri Lankan players to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Muralitharan won the Ada Derana Sri Lankan of the Year in 2017.
