Rajnath Singh is on a two-day tour of Jammu & Kashmir. He will be visiting the state and reviewing the situation and get first-hand feedback from the forces operating at ground zero.
He also visited the Indoor Stadium in Srinagar’s S.K. And he was overwhelmed when he saw a crowd of 5,000 cheering and said, “he saw a new dawn emerging from the State.”
“I have seen such a spectacular scene for the first time. After witnessing such enthusiasm, I am sure J&K’s youth will rewrite the history not only of the State but the entire country. India takes pride in the achievements of the young sports stars from J&K,” he said.
The Minister felicitated eight prominent sports personalities of the State.
The Chief Minister, while praising the Centre’s decision to halt operations, said this has helped in improving the environment for the youth.
Home Minister announced upgradation of the Bakhshi and Moulana Azad stadiums, ₹30 crore for setting up sports infrastructure in 22 districts, ₹88 crore for sports facilities, and ₹ 15 lakh each for 133 blocks. He also announced an artificial football turf in Pulwama, Handwara and Srinagar to be set up at a cost of ₹15 crore.
