South megastar Rajinikanth is gearing for the release of his upcoming film ‘Darbar.’ Yesterday the makers unveiled the trailer of the much-awaited film. The mega-event had the Thalaiva along with the other cast members in attendance. Post the trailer launch the superstar opened up on his future plans.
During a Q & A session with the paparazzi, the Tamil screen idol was asked if there still was any genre or role that he would like to explore. He revealed he wishes to play the role of a transgender in a film.
Speaking to the media Rajinikanth said, “I have explored almost all the genres. I have worked in 160 films and it’s been 45 years in the film industry. I want to play the role of a transgender.”
The veteran actor further added that he would also love to work in a Marathi film someday since his roots belong to Maharashtra. He added that his passion for acting has been the driving factor for the last 45 years.
He said, “I do speak in Marathi in my house. Once I had an opportunity to work in a Marathi film but that didn’t work out. I would like to work in a Marathi film. Let’s see when it happens. We have shot this film (‘Darbar’) for 90 days in Mumbai. I really love people of Mumbai.”
Rajinikanth, was born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad in a Marathi family in Bangalore.
Rajinikanth will be seen playing the role of the commissioner of Mumbai in ‘Darbar’. He will be seen as a cop after a gap of 27 years. The AR Murugadoss directorial is an action thriller. The film also stars Nayanthara, Prateik Babbar, Jatin Sarna, Dalip Tahil, and Sunil Shetty in important roles.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi on January 10, coinciding with Pongal.
