This is the first major election in Tamil Nadu after the death of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa. The polls are a test of Karunanidhi’s son MK Stalin’s leadership too. He had succeeded his father as party president. It is a test of CM Edapadi Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Paneerselvam who run the AIADMK and the government.
