Days after switching to Congress from BJP, former Union Minister Jaswant Singh’s son Manvendra Singh has been rewarded with Jhalrapatan seat, from where Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje filed her nomination on Saturday. Jhalrapatan seat is considered as Raje’s bastion.
Along with Jhalrapatan, Congress on Saturday released its second list of 31 other seats. Earlier on Friday, Rajasthan Congress released the first list of 152 candidates, which cited the prominent names of Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot and Harish Choudhary. As per the list, Sachinj will contest from Tonk constituency, while Gehlot will contest from Sardarpura seat.
Among other prominent names that cited in the second list of Congress are Babulal Bairwa (Kathumar-SC), Suresh Gurjar (Khanpur), Safia Zubair Khan (Ramgarh), Dr RC Yadav (Berhor), Ramlal Jat (Mandal), Mahendra Joshi (Hawa Mahal), hari Mohan Sharma (Bundi), Pushpend5ra Bhardwaj (Sanganer), Shweta Saini (Alwar-Urban), among others.
It is to be known that the BJP too has released its third list of eight candidates and the names are yet to be out of the candidates. Till now BJP has released of 170 candidates. In the first list of 131 candidates, the party dropped 25 sitting MLAs and gave tickets to 12 women. Also, 85 incumbent legislators have been repeated, while 25 new faces featured in the list. New entrants include 17 from Scheduled Caste and 19 from Scheduled Tribe.
The Assembly elections in Rajasthan will take place on December 7 and the results will be out on December 11, along with four other states.
