Rajasthan elections 2018: BJP’s candidate Yoonus Khan to contest against Sachin Pilot in Tonk

Rajasthan Elections 2018: BJP fields minister Yoonus Khan against Sachin Pilot in Tonk, in a change of strategy, declared its list of other 6 candidates.

On Monday, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) changed its poll strategy for Rajasthan elections 2018 and fielded its Transport Minister Yoonus Khan against Congress Rajasthan chief Sachin Pilot in the Muslim-dominated Tonk Assembly constituency by replacing sitting MLA Ajit Singh Mehta. On December 7, Rajasthan will go to polls.

After the Congress had fielded Pilot in Tonk, the BJP did the much required brainstorming and replaced Mehta, whose name was declared in the first list issued by BJP on November 11. It is to be noted that Yoonus Khan is a sitting MLA from Deedwana constituency of Nagaur district. His name was kept reserved by the party till the last moment.

On Monday morning, the BJP released its fifth list of six candidates in which the party dropped two candidates-Shankarlal Kharadi and Ajit Singh Mehta. Both of them were earlier given tickets from Tonk and Kherwara seat respectively. In place of Shankarlal, the BJP party gave ticket to Nanala Aahri from Kherwara.

Besides these two names, the party has also announced the names of Mohit Yadav from Behror, Mukesh Goyel from Kotputali, O P Saini from Karauli, Ramchandra Utta from Khinwsar and Rajendra Vinayaka from Kekri. Notably, both Pilot and Khan will file their nomination papers today, the last day of filing nomination papers.
