Congress President Rahul Gandhi has just extended an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court of India for linking Rafale Judgment to Chowkidar Chor Hai phrase against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi has filed a fresh affidavit with an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court in the Rafale contempt case.
It is to be noted that on April 30, Rahul had told the court he would apologise through a fresh affidavit for wrongly attributing the “Chowkidar chor hai” remark to the Supreme Court. In an earlier affidavit, Rahul Gandhi had expressed regret which, the BJP argued, was nowhere near an unqualified apology that was required.
The Congress President’s affidavit states, “Unconditional apology to the Supreme Court for unintentionally and inadvertently linking SC order in Rafale review plea to his “chowkidar chor hai” political jibe against PM Narendra Modi.”
The affidavit ads, “Deponent unconditionally apologises for the wrongful attributions to this Hon’ble Court. The Deponent further states that any such attributions were entirely unintentional, non-willful and inadvertent.”
In his affidavit, Rahul Gandhi has vividly expressed admit that he had falsely quoted the top court’s Rafale order as “rhetorical flourish in the heat of political campaigning” without having seen, read or analysed the order.
