Rafale: Reliance Entertainment paid 1.4 million Euro to Hollnade’s partner for film
Reacting to allegations over Rafale deal Anil Ambani led Reliance Entertainment has confirmed to finance 15 per cent of the budget of French film ‘Tout La-Haut’ produced by Julie Gayet, a partner of the then French president Francois Hollande.
Reliance Entertainment had paid 1.48 million Euros through one of its partner, French financing firm Visvires Capital, which was founded by Ravi Viswanathan, and he is said to be a longstanding friend of Anil Ambani. The company said in a statement, “Reliance Entertainment had paid the aforesaid only EUR 1.48 million to Visvires Capital on 5th December 2017, as customary only about two weeks before the release of the film on 20th December 2017.”
This was not the only investment made by the Reliance entertainment, it had made several other successful investment with Visvires Capital, including Inter Alia in Sula Wines and Grover Vineyards, prior to the film co-financing.
Clarifying its alleged agreement, the company’s spokesperson quoted as saying in a statement, “Reliance Entertainment has not signed any agreement with Ms Julie Gayet or her company, Rouge International, and nor has any payment ever been made by Reliance Entertainment to either of them in relation to the film, nOmber One,” the company statement quoted a spokesperson while giving these details.”
Prior to release the movie was named as as ‘nOmber One’ but later it was released under the title ‘Tout La-Haut’.
Anil Ambani’s company also added that it received EUR 300,000 from the film’s French producer for providing physical production services for extensive location shooting in difficult mountainous terrains in Ladakh. Directed by Serge Hazanavicius and featuring French actor Kev Adams, the film ‘Tout La-Haut’ was reportedly shot in Nepal and Ladakh too, apart from France.
