Rachel McAdams Would Be Open To Playing Regina George In A Mean Girls Sequel

Mean Girls 3 was a pretty big hit when it came out in 2004, defining the careers of its stars like Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. The film earned $130 million globally on a budget of $17 million. However, despite its success, a direct Mean Girls sequel never happened. 2011 did see a remake of sorts for the film but it failed to recreate the magic of the original.

Rachel McAdams would be happy to rectify that and step into the shoes of Regina George for a Mean Girls sequel.

“It would be fun to play Regina George later in her life and see where life took her.” Rachel McAdams said during a recent Q&A session as part of the “Heroes of Health” campaign.

While Rachel McAdams has gone on to have a successful career beyond Mean Girls, a lot of fans still relate to her as Regina George. Mean Girls was directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey. The movie stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tim Meadows, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler and Fey.

It has gone on to become a cult classic and has made its permanent place in popular media. A Mean Girls sequel with the same cast would be an interesting prospect. It would provide audiences with a glimpse into what Regina George, Cady, and the rest of the Mean Girls crew have been up to since the last movie.

Rachel McAdams has stated a number of times that she would love to make a Mean Girls sequel happen. Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan has also stated that she would love to do a sequel. In addition, Amanda Seyfried has already said she’d reprise her role as Karen Smith. However, Tina Fey has not confirmed if she’ll write a second script.
