The likes of Pulela Gopichand and Saina Nehwal made news on the badminton court and joining them is a young stunner, PV Sindhu. The youngster has emerged as the latest sensation for India in the field of Badminton and has left her mark too.
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu bagged the coveted Gold Medal for women’s single in the BWF World Championships 2019. she is the first Indian woman to win a silver medal in Olympics games. Now she has made the country proud by winning the title of World Badminton Champion.

1. P V Sindhu’s full name is Pusarla Venkata Sindhu & she was born on 5th July 1995 in the City Of Pearls(Hyderabad).
2. She hails from a sports background family. Her parents were professional volleyball players. Her father PV Ramana has already been awarded the coveted Arjuna award which is the highest award to be given for excellence in a particular sport or field in India.
3. PV Sindhu currently holds the third place in the BWF World Ranking in Women’s Single Badminton, just after Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying and Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi.
4. PV Sindhu was the youngest Indian shuttler to reach the finals of an Olympic and win a Silver medal. This happened in the Rio Olympics in Brazil in 2016.
5. Her inspiration is Pulela Gopichand and she started playing badminton at a tender age of 8. She earlier trained under Mehboob Ali, a renowned badminton coach. But later joined her idol Pulela Gopichand’s badminton academy. she used to travel 50+ Kms every day to reach her training centre in Hyderabad.

7. PV Sindhu at the age of 18, won the Arjuna Award. She was later awarded the 4th highest civilian award in India, The Padma Shri. She also received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2016.
8. Off the court, she loves to relax through Yoga and Swimming. They help her keep fit and healthy. She even sacrificed her favourite food The Hyderabadi Biryani and chocolates for her love of the game.
9. PV Sindhu won her first gold in the U-14 category of the 51st national school games.In 2012, She won Gold in the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games and 2012 Asian Junior Championships. PV Sindhu also won her first Grand Prix gold at the 2013 Malaysian Open.
10. She won the World Badminton Championship 2 times in a row in 2013 & 2014. Sindhu has also won Macau Grand Prix Open three times in a row.
11 The two idols of her life are her coach Gopichand and her father who initiated her into the sport.
