PV Sindhu beats Nozomi Okuhara to win BWF World Tour title
PV Sindhu defeated Japanese Nozomi Okuhara 21-19, 21-17 to lift her first BWF World Tour Finals title in Guangzhou, China, on Sunday.
It’s an outstanding win for PV Sindhu considering all the second-place finishes in the recent past, The jinx has been broken after being the second best in the Olympics championships, CWG and Asian Games and many other international tourneys of late.
After winning BWF World Finals, PV Sindhu has become the first Indian to achieve this milestone. The most awaited clash lived up to the hype as the top shuttlers locked horns in a rematch of an unforgettable 2016 World Championship final.
Sindhu qualified for the finals after defeating Ratchanok Itnanon in the semi-finals. Indian shuttler won the coveted title on Sunday after eight consecutive defeats in title rounds.
It is to be noted that this was Sindhu’s sixth final of 2018, but only her first title, making it a more special occasion for her.
