Punjab: CM Amarinder Singh orders probe in Bathinda industrial unit blast
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered a probe to ascertain the cause of the blast that took place in a matchstick manufacturing firm in Industrial Growth Centre at Mansa Road, Bathinda. The unfortunate incident left one person dead and one critically injured.
Taking a step ahead, CM Amarinder Singh also announced ex-gratia of Rs3 lakh for the next of the kin of the deceased, identified as Harish Kumar, a junk dealer, and Rs 50,000 for the injured. He further directed the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda to ensure the best possible treatment, free of cost, to the injured Raj Kumar.
In his directive, Captain Amarinder Singh has asked the DC to ensure a thorough probe into the incident to ascertain the cause of the explosion and suggest remedial measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Acting swiftly on the directives of the CM, the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda has entrusted the task of enquiry to Additional District Magistrate. Also, the Chief Minister has also extended his sympathies to the families of the victims.
A fire broke out in a matchstick manufacturing firm after an explosion at the Industrial Growth Centre on Wednesday. According to reports, the fire broke out around 12 pm. The impact of the explosion was so severe that the floor, walls and even the roof got damaged.
