Legendary Indian athlete, PT Usha’s coach OM Nambiar is no more. He breathed his last at the age of 89. He passed away on Thursday after suffering from age-related issues. Nambiar is survived by his wife, Leela, three of their sons and a daughter. Renowned people including Indian politicians took to their social media handles to share emotional posts remembering him.
PT Usha took to her official Twitter handle to share an emotional post. She shared a few throwback pictures and wrote, “The passing of my guru, my coach, my guiding light is going to leave a void that can never be filled. Words cannot express his contribution to my life. Anguished by the grief. Will miss you OM Nambiar sir. RIP.”
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan condoled the demise of Nambiar. According to ANI, he said, “His services to Indian sport will be long remembered. My heartfelt condolences.”
Apart from being a legendary athlete coach, Nambiar was also known for his philanthropic activities. He has apparently build houses for poor donating his own place. He has helped sports clubs in his area to evolve.
