In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court announced today that a Ram Temple will be constructed on the disputed 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya while a five-acre alternative plot will be given for a mosque.
PM Modi tweeted regarding the subject, “The Honourable Supreme Court has given its verdict on the Ayodhya issue. This verdict shouldn’t be seen as a win or loss for anybody. Be it Ram Bhakti or Rahim Bhakti, it is imperative that we strengthen the spirit of Rashtra Bhakti. May peace and harmony prevail!”

Home Minister Amit Shah also welcomed the judgment and called for peace and unity.

The Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict. “We think it is unjust… We can’t consider this justice. We are not criticizing all parts of judgment,” Zafaryab Jilani said.
Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, the spiritual head of Ajmer dargah, welcomed the decision and appealed people to maintain peace and harmony. In a statement to the Press Trust of India, he said “We respect and accept the verdict. The judiciary is supreme and everyone should respect the decision. It is the time to present a united face before the world because entire world is looking at India today,”
The country is on high alert following the verdict. The five judges have also been provided with extra security to ensure their safety.
