Pacer Mohammad Shami said on Monday that he along with his bowling unit were watching videos of the Australians bowling and preparing for the much-anticipated tour Down Under.

All throughout this year, it has been the fast bowling that has stood up and lifted the team in crucial circumstances. They might have been beaten 1-4 in England but that scoreline doesn’t speak about how good the bowling attack which covered up for the poor batting efforts.

“As a fast bowling unit, we did well in England. We are preparing for the Australia series and watching a lot of videos. The plan is to focus on the series as much as possible as the opponents are very strong. We will work on getting the line and length right,” he said, as quoted by PTI.

The Bengal speedster was a part of the Test and ODI squads that took on against the West Indies in the series that concluded days ago. Currently, Shami is watching his state team against Madhya Pradesh at the Eden Gardens in the Ranji Trophy.

“We will always try to do our best. Winning or losing also depends on luck. We will give our 100 per cent,” Shami added.

The tour of Australia would begin with a three-match T20I series beginning on November 21 and would be followed by four-match Test series, the first of which would be played in Adelaide.

Reports in recent times have suggested that the banned duo of Steve Smith and David Warner might be thought of as options for the side, especially after the Aussies have had a terrible run of form in recent times, across formats.

Shami, however, opined that the absence of Warner and Smith would soften up the team.

“If those two don’t play, they will obviously be weakened. But in the end, you have to stick to your plan and work on your strengths,” he said.
