English Premier League Southampton Football Club have decided to part ways with manager Mark Hughes after having suffered an awful start to the new season.
This decision was announced by the club on Monday. Southampton have won just one out of the 14 matches they have played this season.
“We would like to express our thanks to Mark and his staff for all of their efforts during their time at St Mary’s,” a statement from the club read.

“First team assistant coach Kelvin Davis will lead the team for Wednesday’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, the club said, adding that the search for a new manager has already begun.
Hughes assumed charge as Southampton manager last March and led to the FA Cup semi-final, besides helping them remain in the Premier League. But this time, the fortunes for the Saints have changed drastically as they have just won one match and have lost seven out of 14 games.
Hughes’ last match for Southampton ended in a 2-2 draw where his side conceded both the goals after being 2-0 up inside 30 minutes.
