Premier League: Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang star for Arsenal in 3-1 win over Leicester City
Powered by the genius of Mesut Ozil and the accuracy of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal came from behind to defeat Leicester City FC 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
Ozil was at his absolute best on the night as he netted in the equaliser after which he set up the second and third goals as the Gunners recorded their 10th successive win across all competitions under new manager Unai Emery.
That they lost the first two matches under the Spaniard is now a distant thought as this team brimming with confidence is set to become one of the hottest contenders for the coveted Premier League title.
A quick counter-attack in the 31st minute led to the first goal of the match with a low cross from Ben Chilwell taking a deflection off the feet of Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin as the ball went into Bernd Leno’s net.

This goal somehow got the Gunners going as Ozil equalised soon before the break with a beautiful finish in the 45th minute.
The home team nonetheless looked even more threatening in the second half. Their second of the night came from Aubameyang who had come on as a substitute. Ozil pierced the Foxes’ defence as the ball found Bellerin who then put it on Aubameyang’s path and the Gabonese forward didn’t make any mistake in helping Arsenal gain a lead.
It was the Auba-Ozil duo once again who joined hands to score Arsenal’s third of the night. The German playmaker flicked the ball, setting things up in the midfield before he pulled off a clean assist as Aubameyang calmly scored his second as the home team romped to a 3-1 win. Arsenal could have had more but French striker Alexandre Lacazette’s shot was saved by Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel, who pulled off a fantastic save.
