Manchester United snatched a point from what looked likely to turn into an embarrassing defeat against Southampton at the St. Mary’s stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils had already conceded twice in the opening 20 minutes of play with manager Jose Mourinho claiming before the match that he didn’t have enough fit centre-backs, to begin with, especially with Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof all nursing injuries.
He thus went with five men at the back but still found it tough to not let any goal slip in. For the Saints, Stuart Armstrong and Cedric Soares were the scorers.

But a spirited fightback was staged by his team wherein they not only trimmed Southampton’s lead but also equalised it in a space of six minutes to send waves of relief across the millions of Manchester United fans all over the globe.
English youngster Marcus Rashford was central to Manchester United’s comeback as he had a hand in both the goals for his side which was scored by Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera to restore parity.
Lukaku thus ended a 981-minute wait for a goal as he sparked hopes of a comeback.
Slamming the “characteristics of the players”, for yet another unconvincing display, Mourinho said, “It doesn’t matter the system we play,” Mourinho said. “(Not winning) has to do with the characteristics of the players.
“With all due respect, we don’t have many mad dogs that bite the ball and press all the time. We don’t have many people with that spirit,” he added, as quoted by BBC.
