Liverpool continued with their upsurge in the Premier League by strolling past Newcastle United 4-0. This result, aided by Manchester City’s unlikely loss to Leicester City helped the Reds extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to six points.
Newcastle however have themselves to blame after Joselu failed to make a connection with a good cross from Matt Ritchie. Lovren opened the scoring for the hosts with a shot right at the top corner of the net.
Salah converted a spot kick to double the lead and Shaqiri scored the third goal assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold. Fabinho completed the rout with a header to hand the hosts a comfortable 4-0 win.

It was a 12th clean sheet for Liverpool in the Premier League. News of Manchester City trailing Leicester City 1-2 at the King Power Stadium arrived at the Anfield amidst huge roar as the Reds eventually completed their 16th victory in the 19 matches played in the Premier League.
Manchester City defeated yet again
Manchester City faced their second successive defeat in the Premier League as they went down 1-2 to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday–a result that helped Liverpool build their lead at the top of the table.
Yet, it was an unlikely loss for Pep Guardiola’s men who had lost their last match at home to Crystal Palace. It was Andros Townsend then at the Etihad who had blasted one into the net to hand City their second defeat of the season and this time, it was Ricardo Pereira whose stunning strike in the 81st minute helped the Foxes emerge victorious in the contest.
City just like the last match, had taken the lead when Sergio Aguero capitalised on sloppy defending from Leicester to assist Bernardo Silva for the opening goal. But just five minutes later, the home side clawed back into the contest with a header from Marc Albrighton. Pereira’s stunner late in the game separated the two sides as Leicester City registered their second consecutive win after beating Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday. The match ended on an ugly note with City defender being shown a red after his tackle on Ricardo.
