A winning streak of 11 consecutive matches for Arsenal was brought to an end at the Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace snatched a late winner to hold the high-flying Gunners to a 2-2 draw on Sunday.
It was Luka Milivojevic who converted two spot-kicks into goals as Arsenal failed to notch up their 12th consecutive win in all competitions.
Unai Emery’s men fell behind just at the stroke of half-time when Milivojevic sent Bernd Leno the wrong way and gave his side the lead.
However, it was scintillating finish from a free-kick from Swissman Granit Xhaka in the 51st minute that restored parity for the Gunners. Five minutes later, it was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who found the net for the visitors, handing them the lead in controversial circumstances.
His strike partner Alexandre Lacazette passed the ball to him with a controversial flick with his hand and an unmarked Aubameyang obliged, netting his ninth goal of the season.
Officials, however, failed to spot the hand-ball–a fact that quite obviously left Palace manager Roy Hodgson fuming.
But justice came for Crystal Palace at the dying stages of the match when Wilfred Zaha won a second penalty for his side and Milivojevic scored one again to hold the proceedings to a 2-2 draw.
Arsenal, through this draw retained their fourth-place in the table but failed to close down the gap with leaders Liverpool.
