UP: Pregnant woman strangled to death for objecting to smoking in train
Yet another shocking incident emerged from Uttar Pradesh, a co-passenger in Shahjahanpur allegedly strangulated to death a pregnant woman when she expressed her objection to his smoking in the train. The woman along with her family was on her way to Bihar for taking part in Chhat Puja festivities.
The incident took place on Friday night, the deceased identified as Chinat Devi (45), who was travelling with her family in the general bogey of Punjab-Bihar Jallianwala Express when she objected to a co-passenger, identified as Sonu Yadav, smoking, GRP police station In-charge, Shahjahanpur, A K Pandey told PTI.
“After a heated argument, Yadav physically assaulted the woman and strangled her,” Pandey said.
Adding on he said that the train was stopped at Shahjahanpur and the woman was rushed to a hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead.
The accused has been arrested and deceased body sent for post-mortem.
