Pre monsoon showers disrupt Mumbai life
In a span of three days, Pre-monsoon showers have hit Mumbai city two times accompanied by thunder and lightning. The second time happened on a Monday evening, already creating troubles. Local trains were disrupted and delayed. Rains poured over south Mumbai, eastern and western suburbs and in many areas of adjoining Raigad, Thane, Ratnagiri and Palghar districts.
Around 7 pm on Monday, pre-monsoon showers with lightning started from parts of Navi Mumbai and within a few minutes had reached parts of Mumbai like Mira Road, Borivali, Mulund, Dadar, Wadala, Parel and parts of Fort and Colaba.

Waterlogging has also been reported in the city and suburbs, leading to huge traffic snarls on the two highways and other roads in the city and suburbs.

At least nine incoming flights of different airlines were diverted from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to other airports like Ahmedabad due to weather conditions.
39 tree fall complaints were also received out of which 13 were from the city area, five from eastern suburbs and 21 from western suburbs.
Scientist Ajay Kumar of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai said, “From June 6 onwards we are expecting heavy rains for parts of Konkan and by June 9-10 extremely heavy rains are expected in parts of North Konkan especially which includes Mumbai as well.”
