A police complaint has been filed against former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh in Hansi police station of Hisar district, Haryana. It is for his alleged casteist comments for spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The written complaint was filed by Dalit rights activist and advocate Rajat Kalsan. He has also demanded registration of an FIR against Yuvraj Singh.
During an interaction on social media with India opener Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj made a casteist remark against Chahal and Kuldeep.
Talking about Chahal’s TikTok videos, Yuvraj had said: “Yeh b***gi log ko kaam nahi hai yeh Yuzi aur isko (Kuldeep).
“Yuzi ko dekha kya video daala hai apni family ke saath. Maine usko wahi bola ki apne baap ko nacha raha hai, pagal toh nahi hai tu,” Rohit replied.
The short clip is viral on the internet leaving many fans of the allrounder shocked. Yuvraj has been facing huge backlash, with netizens asking the former Indian all-rounder to apologize for his comment.
Speaking to Indian Express Kalsan said, “This comment has hurt the sentiments of Dalits as millions of people have watched this video on social media. I have also submitted a DVD containing controversial remarks in support of my complaint. The investigators watched this DVD on Wednesday.”
The lawyer has also slammed Rohit Sharma for not expressing his displeasure over Yuvraj’s comment.
The Haryana Police has initiated a probe against former India cricketer.
