At the 75th session of United Nations General Assembly on Saturday, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi spoke about the reforms which are needed at the United Nations and he stated that India is waiting for the reform. The Security Council is the UN’s highest-decision making forum and there are five permanent members – the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Russia and France.

- India is proud of the fact that it is one of the Founding Members of the United Nations since it started. On this historic occasion, I have come to this global platform to share the sentiments of 1.3 billion people of India.
- If we were to make an objective assessment of the performance of UN over the last 75 years, we see several stellar achievements. At the same time, there are also several instances about the need for a serious introspection of the work of the United Nations in today’s time.
- Over the last 8 to 9 months, the whole world has been battling the pandemic of the Coronavirus. Where is the United Nations in this joint fight against the pandemic? Where is its effective response?
- It is true that the Third World War did not happen to say, but it cannot be denied that there have been many wars, many civil wars that have also taken place. How many terror attacks kept the blood rivers flowing. In these wars, in these attacks, the people who were killed were human beings just like you and me.
- India will stand for Shanti, Suraksha and Samridhi. India’s experience will strengthen the way for Vishwa Kalyan. India has brought changes through Reform-Perform-Transform process.
- PM also mentioned about the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme, which will be a force-multiplier for the world economy.
