Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a surprise visit, has reached Leh. He is accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief MM Naravane. The PM will take stock of the security situation along with General Rawat, MM Naravane, Northern Army Commanders Lt Gen YK Joshi, Lt Gen Harinder Singh and 14 Corps officials.
The Prime Minister will also interact with the soldiers there. His interaction will be a morale booster for the forces.
As per new agency ANI, PM Modi is presently at one of the forward locations in Nimu, Ladakh. He reached there early morning. Located at 11,000 feet, this is among the tough terrains, surrounded by the Zanskar range and on the banks of the Indus.
The PM’s visit comes days after 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in a face off with Chines army at Galwan Valley.
The Indian army and the Chinese are locked in the standoff in multiple locations in eastern Ladakh for the last seven weeks. Several military-level talks are being held to de-escalate the border tension. But these talks are yet to bear results.
