PK 2: Vidhu Vinod Chopra Confirms Sequel; Ranbir Kapoor To Step Into Aamir Khan’s Shoes

Superstar Aamir Khan‘s 2014 blockbuster film PK is all set to get a sequel with Ranbir Kapoor taking the story forward. The news was confirmed by producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The filmmaker said that a sequel will be made in due time and also hinted that Ranbir’s character may take the story forward.

Confirming the news to Midday, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, “We will make the sequel. We had shown Ranbir [Kapoor’s character landing on the planet] towards the end of the film, so there is a story to tell. But Abhijat (Joshi, writer) has not written it yet. The day he writes it, we will make it.”

He added, “We are not in the business of making money, we are in the business of making cinema. If making money [was our goal], by now, we would have made six to seven [instalments of] Munna Bhai, and two to three [editions of] PK. We seek joy, happiness and peace over a few crores.”

PK also featured Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt and late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in pivotal roles. It broke box office records on its release in 2014. The movie was a satirical view of society and its religious beliefs. It had Aamir Khan playing an alien who lands on Earth due to a mechanical failure of his spaceship. How he goes about questioning everything was thought-provoking.

Ranbir Kapoor also has Brahmastra, Shamshera, Luv Ranjan film with Shraddha Kapoor in his kitty. Whereas Aamir Khan will be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha.
