Pearl V Puri sent to 14-day judicial custody in alleged rape case
'Naagin 3' actor Pearl V Puri, who has been accused of raping a minor girl, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
‘Naagin 3’ actor Pearl V Puri was arrested on Monday evening by the Mumbai police on charges of raping a minor girl. Reportedly, he was produced before the court today. Now, the latest development in his case is that he has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Vasai.
“Puri has been sent to a judicial custody for 14 days and he has not been granted bail,” said Sanjay Patil, DCP Zone 2, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV), reported the Times Of India.
The bail order will be discussed on Monday, June 7
The actor was arrested by Waliv Police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act under IPC section 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21.
According to the Valiv Police Station, the victim’s family had complained that Puri had allegedly molested and raped the girl, around two years ago.
DCP Sanjay Patil told Etimes, “The victim filed FIR in 2019 u/s IPC 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21 at Waliv and complained that accused Pearl Puri had sexually assaulted victim was then aged 5 yrs. The accused is taken into custody and will be produced today in court.”
As soon as the news of Pearl’s arrest emerged online, many of the celebrities like Aly Goni, Rakhi Sawant, Adhvik Mahajan, Nia Sharma, Ekta Kapoor, Hina Khan, Surbhi Jyoti, and others from the television industry have reacted on the matter and have also extended their support to the actor.
