Patna: FIR filed against Kanhaiya Kumar for misbehaving with AIIMS staff
A case was filed against JNU students’ union former president Kanhaiya Kumar and many of his supporters on charges of assaulting a junior doctor, nurses and a security guard of AIIMS-Patna.
“The FIR against Kumar and his supporters was lodged at Phulwarisharif police station in western Patna on a complaint by the association of AIIMS doctors,” Phulwarisharif SHO Mohammad Qaiser Alam told PTI.
The SHO further said, “The complainants have alleged that they beat up an intern on duty and also thrashed a security guard who came to intervene.” “They also alleged that Kumar and his supporters snatched the doctor’s mobile phone also after beating him up,” he added.
“The FIR has been lodged under various IPC sections related to assault, snatching and preventing a public servant from discharging his duty,” he noted.
Notably, Kanhaiya, along with about 100 others, had visited the AIIMS hospital in Patna on Sunday night to meet an AISF leader Sushil Kumar, undergoing treatment there. During their stay at the AIIMS, some of them misbehaved and threatened the doctor on duty, nurses and the security guard.
The unfortunate incident triggered angry reactions from doctors of the AIIMS and threatened to go on an indefinite strike if proper action was not taken against Kumar and adequate security arrangements were not made in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the All India Students Federation (AISF) has refuted the allegations made by the doctors.
