Patakha Trailer: Vishal Bhardwaj’s gritty comedy will leave you in splits
After introducing the characters of the upcoming film Patakha on social media, director Vishal Bhardwaj released the trailer of the film at the stroke of midnight of Indian Independence day, 15th August. This move by the Pataakha team took the fans by surprise.
The film stars Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan, Sunil Grover and Vijay Raaz in key roles and while the posters had already intrigued the fans, the trailer is here to get them even more excited for September 28. In Pataakha, Sanya plays Genda ‘Chhutki’ Kumari, Radhika plays Champa ‘Badki’ Kumari and it’s refreshing to see the two actors have gotten into the skin of their characters this well. Badki and Chhutki, who have grown up in a small Rajasthani village, are unlike any other loving sister duo. The sisters quite literally are at each other’s throats and baying for blood. The beedi-smoking sister duo, is a refreshing change from the usually coy Hindi heartland women characters.
The two are in constant sibling rivalry with each other and while they finally think they will get relief from each other after their respective marriages, fate has something else in store for them. The movie promises to be a laugh riot from the Vishal Bhardwaj stable. Bhardwaj, the Indian bard dabbled with comedy in Ishqiya and Dedh Ishqiya. The film is an adaptation of Charan Singh Pathik’s short story titled Do Behnein and whether it’s Sanya with her unabashed dialogues or Radhika, who is a total firecracker in the trailer – both the actors seem to be in top form. The other star cast includes Vijay Raaz as Bechara Bapu, Sunil Grover as Dipper Naradmuni and Saanand Verma as Tharki Patel earn the trailer its brownie points. For the uninitiated, each character was earlier introduced with an interesting couplet hinting at their character traits
