Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon have kickstarted the shoot of their period drama ‘Panipat’ that is being directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The movie, that is based on the epic battle fought (on January 14, 1761) between the Marathas and the Afghans at Panipat, also features Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role.
The team has started shooting for Panipat on Friday. Arjun announced the news by sharing a teaser poster of the period drama on social media.

Actress Kriti Sanon too added that she is excited to start this “new chapter”. She tweeted, “Our ‘Panipat’ journey begins today. Super excited for this new chapter.. going to join you guys in two days. Let’s do this! Panipat shoot begins today.”
Arjun Kapoor, who was recently spotted hiding his face behind a mask, finally unveiled his look for Panipat. He was seen sporting a captain hook moustache for the film.
‘Panipat’ is being produced by Sunita Gowariker under their home banner AGPPL in association with Vision World. The movie has Arjun Kapoor depicting the role of Maratha army’s leader Sadashivrao Bhau with Kriti Sanon as his second wife Parvatibai (who escorted her husband to the battle). Sanjay Dutt will be depicting the role of Ahmad Shah Durrani, who led the Afghans to victory. The film is slated to release on December 6, 2019.
