The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) handed a 10-year ban to Nasir Jamshed on Friday. Anti-Corruption Tribunal imposed a ban for his involvement in the spot-fixing row during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2016-17 season.
Making the declaration, the PCB said in a statement on Twitter, “Anti Corruption Case Update: Cricketer Nasir Jamshed banned for 10 years by Anti Corruption Tribunal. Details to follow.”
This the second time Jamshed was banned in last two years. As per the ban, the Pakistani cricketer will be out from any form of cricket during the aforementioned period — 10 years. Earlier, he was banned for a year for his involvement in the non-cooperation in the 2017 PSL spot-fixing case and found him guilty.
Jamshed is the third player to come under the PCB’s radar. His previous ban ended in April, 2018, after which PCB charged him with seven other violations of their anti-corruption code. The 28-year-old cricketer had then rejected it and it pushed the PCB to form a tribunal headed by retired judge Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan. Other members of the tribunal include — former cricketer Aaqib Javed and Supreme Court advocate Shahzaib Masood.
