Oscars 2021: India’s Jallikattu Out Of International Feature Race
Jallikattu' exits international feature race, short film 'Bittu' moves to next round Of the Academy awards 2021
Filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Jallikattu, India’s official entry for Oscar 2021 is out of the race. The movie was chosen for the Best International Feature category at the 93rd Academy Awards. It has failed to make it to the shortlist of fifteen films. The movies will compete to make it to the later stages of the nominations. Films from 93 countries were eligible in the category, the most in Oscars history. The news is shared by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
Jallikattu (2019) is an action drama film is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery with a screenplay by S Hareesh and R Jayakumar. It is based on the short story named Maoist by Hareesh. The film stars Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Santhy Balachandran.

Karishma Dev Dube-directed Bittu has made it to the Best Live Action Short Film shortlist for the Oscars. Based on a true story, the movie is a short film about a close friendship between two girls, eclipsed by an accident at their school.
The 93rd Academy Awards are postponed from their usual February date due to the coronavirus pandemic. They will now be held on April 25.
