JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday. A week after Yeddyurappa resigned from the post before the floor test, Congress JD(S) formed an alliance.
The decision was then taken that the CM post will go to JD(S) and deputy Cm and the Speaker posts will go to Congress.
Karnataka Congress President G Parameshwara was also sworn-in as the deputy chief minister and Ramesh Kumar, a former minister and Congress leader, will be the next assembly speaker.
The ceremony was attended by a group of leaders such as Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav, Former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, Former Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury.
