Nvidia Asks PC Gamers To Fight Against Coronavirus With Their Gaming PCs

Gaming PC hardware manufacturer Nvidia is asking gamers to fight the coronavirus through their powerful gaming PCs. Nvidia is asking gamers everywhere to download the Folding@home application. This is a distributed computing project for disease research in collaboration with the PC Master Race gaming community. The announcement was made through social media.
Gamers who download the app on their computer will allow the spare processing power on that computer to be used for the tasks and programs of the app. This app has been around since 2000. Now the app has several new projects for “simulating potentially druggable protein targets from SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and the related SARS-CoV virus (for which more structural data is available),” Gamesradar reported.
This could lead to a better knowledge about the coronavirus which is the first step towards finding a cure for it. Gamers can also choose which project their data is used for. All gamers need to do to contribute in the fight against Coronavirus is download the app. The software will take care of the rest although gamers can check on the progress of the research in real time if they wish to do so. In addition, gamers can turn off the application whenever they desire.
Coronavirus has been causing panic around the globe. The deadly COVID-19 outbreak has already amassed a death toll of over 5,000 around the world. China, where the virus originated, has suffered over 3,000 Coronavirus related deaths. Italy has also seen a death toll of over 1,000 due to the Coronavirus.
