Salman Khan’s production movie Notebook featuring Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl was released this Friday. The box office collection of Notebook seems to have affected by Vidyut Jammwal starrer Junglee, which earned a decent amount at the ticket window. According to Box Office India report, Zaheer-Pranutan’s Notebook started off on a poor note and managed to earn only 60-70 lakh on its opening day. “It is three times less than Junglee which itself is not that good,” the report says.
Akshay Kumar’s Kesari, which was released on 21 March, still ruling the box office and earned Rs 4.45 crore on March 29, which is better than Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee as well. The box office collection of Notebook is even lower than Salman Khan Production film Loveyatri, which released last year. The film Loveyatri, which featured Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain earned Rs 2.11 crore nett on its day one.
Directed by ace filmmaker Nitin Kakkar, Notebook is basically based on the Thai film named A Teacher’s Diary. The story of the film revolves around Kabir, an ex-army officer, who comes to teach students in Kashmir. He discovers a diary which was left behind by the previous teacher Firdaus, and later, he falls in love with her after learning her story. The movie has been getting positive reviews from all the quarters.
The film Notebook received positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. In an interview with Mid-Day, Zaheer had revealed how he bagged the role. “Notebook happened to me while I was dancing at my sister’s wedding at her sangeet performance. We had shot a video of a story where my sister and brother-in-law win the local best couple award in 2025, and I was playing my brother-in-law’s part and every time the song appeared in the video, I had to come on stage and dance to it. When I got off the stage, Salman (Khan) bhai happened to be there because he is my dad’s childhood friend. He wasn’t supposed to be there since he had a court case in Jaipur but that got pushed,” he narrated.
