On 18 June 2021, Milkha Singh also known as The Flying Sikh passed away in a local hospital in Chandigarh at 11.30 pm on Friday, where he was being treated for Covid-related complications. Now, upon Milkha Singh’s passing, Noida Stadium has put up Farhan Akhtar’s photo, who essayed the role of Singh in the athlete’s biopic on a small hoarding instead of the late athlete.
Soon after, many netizens came across the hoarding and went on to share the images on Twitter and slammed the local authorities. A journalist- Anisha Dutta shared a picture showing that Akhtar’s picture and wrote, “Would request @noida_authority to replace these boards along the running track at Noida Stadium with the picture of the real Milkha Singh and not Farhan Akhtar’s character in the movie. 🙄”

Another person wrote, “I am guessing this is the crazy power of SEO. Someone searched for a pic of Milkha Singh and got this image and used it. At the same shows ignorance of the chain of command that approved this. Without doubt must be changed.”
“100% agree….to me it’s a shameful act by someone who used REEL actor picture on these hoardings. Who the hell is not aware of our REAL HERO -THE FLYING MACHINE Mr. MILKHA SINGH,” one user said.
Now, the CEO of Noida Authority shared that the images were removed, “Images were placed many years back; these have been removed today and will be repainted as per norms.”
