On August 11, it was reported that the ‘Drishyam’ director Nishikant Kamat was hospitalized in AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It was said that he is in critical condition. Now, the hospital has released an official statement on his health. They shared he has been diagnosed with chronic liver disease. But added that the director’s condition is still critical but stable.
The official statement read as: “Mr Nishikant Kamat (50 years, Male) was brought to AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 31st July with jaundice and abdominal distention. He has been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections.”
“He is in the intensive care unit for continuous monitoring under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of senior consultants comprising of Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, Critical Care, and others. His condition is critical but stable. We wish him a speedy recovery,” read the statement.
The filmmaker gained the spotlight with the Marathi film, ‘Dombivali Fast’ which became one of the superhits of Marathi Cinema. He also won a National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. Later, he made his debut in the film, ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’, which was based on the Mumbai train bombings, he also acted in ‘Rocky Handsome’ (2016), ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’, ‘Daddy’ and ‘Julie 2.’
Apart from acting, Kamat has also directed movies like, ‘Drishyam,’ ‘Daddy,’ Madaari’, and many more. His upcoming film ‘Darbadar’, is also expected to release in 2022.
