OTT platforms such as Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon Prime video and others are making all possible efforts to grab the digital rights of movies that are all set to hit the theatres. There are dozens of movies such as 83, Sooryavanshi, Master, Nishabdham, V, and Orey Bujjiga, which were supposed to release in March and April but could not hit the theatres due to Coronavirus outbreak.
If anything to go by reports, the OTT deal of ‘Nishabdham’ has been closed by the makers. Notably, if the report turns out to be true, Nishabdham would be the second Telugu film to directly release on OTT platform after AmruthaRamam.
According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has agreed to pay Rs 30 crore for the digital rights of Nishabdham. This is surely one of the biggest deals in Telugu.
Touted to be a suspense-thriller, Nishabdham features an ensemble star cast like Madhavan, Michael Madsen, Anjali, Shalini Pandey, Subbaraju and Srinivasa Avasarala in pivotal roles.
The story of the film revolves around a murder mystery and a haunted house, the video promos are loaded with thrills and spills. The film is getting dubbed into multiple regional languages namely Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. This development will help gain more viewership on Prime and it could be one of the key reasons why Amazon Prime has shelled out Rs 30 Cr on this thriller.
The film was supposed to be released on 31 January 2020 but was postponed to 2 April 2020. It has since been delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Directed by Hemant Madhukar, Nishabdham is expected to release on Amazon Prime Video by the end of this month.
