Gone are the days when men were winning awards and shining on all platforms, now our women are achieving heights and making a mark in the world. The 1st Nirbhaya Jyoti National Women Achievers Excellence Awards-2018 were recently held on 24th August’18 at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust and Global Achievers Awards. It was conceptualized by Hector Ravinder Dutt with an objective to pay tribute to Nirbhaya Jyoti by felicitating the women achievers of the country.
The award was meant to felicitate women who have challenged the status quo and left a mark in their industry. There is one such story of Alka Priya who is a well-known TV anchor & model who was awarded for her valuable contribution in the field of anchoring, for her hard work and for creating her own identity. She was presented the award by Advocate Sulekha Kumari who is a member of minority commission, Govt of India.
The achievers were awarded for their contribution in the various fields like beauty, fashion, style, modelling, social work, media, administration, business, sports, politics, entrepreneur etc. Nirbhaya’s Mother Asha Devi was also present at the event along with Advocate Sulekha Kumari, member of minority commission, Govt of India, actor & social activists Nafisa Ali and many other dignitaries.
The event aimed to bring these unsung heroines on the bigger pedestal for them to inspire and empower other women.
Alka Priya is a well- known and much followed tech journalist but has crafted a niche’ for herself as a television anchor. Her journey as an anchor, her learning, and achievements, her accomplishments make her a perfect awardee for the prize.
