Nintendo Switch owners may be getting new and remastered Mario games in 2020 if the recent rumors are to be believed.
As per recent reports, Nintendo is celebrating the 35th anniversary of Mario this year. According to Video Game Chronicles, Mario games will have the back catalog rematered and released for Switch this year. This includes titles like the 1997 Super Mario 64, 2002 Super Mario Sunshine and 2007 Super Mario Galaxy.
In addition, there are also reports that the company plans to launch several Mario titles. These include a new installment of the Paper Mario series and a Deluxe version of the Super Mario 3D World that was released in 2013 on Wii U. Eurogamer has also reported that the Deluxe edition of the Super Mario 3D World will “include an array of new levels”.
Moreover, VentureBeat revealed that these remasters could be a part of bundle like the Super Mario All-Stars 2. However, 3D World might be a separate release.
Meanwhile, Nintendo has not made any statements about the rumors. Although fans of the franchise will not have to wait long to find out if there is any truth to these rumors. The company might be doing a reveal soon since the reported plans for a Super Mario 35th Anniversary had to be scrapped due to E3 getting canceled this year owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Nintendo might have big plans for the future this year and it looks like their timing could not be better. Nintendo Switch consoles are selling out like hotcakes at the moment with people turning to gaming for entertainment during the coronavirus quarantine.
