Rumor: A New Mass Effect Game Reportedly In Early Stages Of Development At BioWare
Rumors also suggest Mike Gamble will be overseeing the game
Andromeda, the fourth Mass Effect series installment was released way back in March 2017. The game did not go over well with the gaming community as it was full of bugs and glitches. However, if rumor is to be believed BioWare is in early stages of development of a new Mass Effect game. According to Kotaku, the game is being developed at BioWare’s Edmonton, Alberta, Canada office. It will be overseen by Mike Gamble who helped develop Mass Effect 2 and 3.
Mike Gamble was also involved in the development of Mass Effect: Andromeda. He emphatically stated that the series is “certainly not dead” after Andromeda tanked. BioWare producer Mark Darrah also gave substance to the claim when he stated recently, “We’re not done with Mass Effect.”
There has been no confirmation about this from the developers side though. The news surrounding a new Mass Effect game is just a circulating rumor for now. There is also no news regarding the premises of the game. It could either be a continuation of the Andromeda storyline or a new story altogether. The Andromeda ending certainly left room for a sequel though. BioWare may be wary of reintroducing the failed game storyline again though.
As for now, BioWare is busy with another project. They are reviving the Mass Effect: Anthem, which was another lukeworm release. BioWare is hoping that the revamped Anthem will be a success with the gaming community.
The new Mass Effect game in rumor will be BioWare’s priority after Anthem is finished with the retooling.
