New England Patriots register predictable win over New York Giants
New England Patriots continue their success rally with a flawless 6-0
The New England Patriots continued their run of success beating the New York Giants 35-14 at Gillette Stadium. Their performance was shaky and the fight went ugly but The Patriots prevailed, moving to a perfect 6-0 in the season.
The offence struggled with a failed fourth down conversion, two punts and an interception at the start. Brandon Bolden came through for his team though, blocking Riley Dixon’s punt with little over a minute left in the first quarter. The ball went sailing to rookie Chase Winovich, who scored his first touchdown, putting The Patriots 7-0.
“I just made contact with him, and as I was driving him back I really had two options,” Bolden said “Either throw him into the punter, or just stick my hand up. I stuck my hand up, and the ball really just hit off my hand. It was just luck at that point.”
The Patriots defense has been on the field for 74 drives this season. The results:
Punt: 41
Blocked punt: 2
INT: 11
Downs: 6
End of half/game: 6
FG: 2
Missed FG: 1
Fumble: 2
TD: 3They’ve scored more touchdowns (5) than they’ve allowed (3).

Owing to injuries and Tom Brady’s inconsistent performance, The Patriot’s weren’t able to strike the Giants early in the game. The defense saved the day when second-year linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley stripped rookie Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and Kyle Van Noy dived the end zone for a touchdown.
“Any of those defensive or special teams touchdown are really kind of bonus points,” Bill Belichick, post-match. “You don’t really think about getting those when you go into the game so to be able to get 14 of them was huge. That was a big spark.”
Julian Edelman also said, “We’ve got to hold out end of the bargain up more, I think we just feel focused on what we have to do to get it going,” he continued. “It is just how it goes and we’re playing teams that we don’t really play that often in back-to-back weeks. It is going to start off with a great week of practice coming up, have some time down and get it going. We know we’re not starting fast and we just have to keep on working, which is what it is all about.”
Key players like Philip Dorett, Josh Gordon, and Rex Burkhead would hope to use the upcoming extended break to recover from their injuries. The team would also be looking forward to working on their offense which has been the only chink in their amour so far.

When asked of his thoughts on Patriot’s offence, Tom Brady said “You’ve just gotta make adjustments,” he said. “Guys kind of just filled in. We knew we weren’t going to have Phillip tonight after two days ago, then Josh got hurt. Dealing with what everyone else deals with this time of year , a lot of injuries and attrition.”
