World’s biggest subscription-based streaming service Netflix has made a special announcement. Netflix announced that it will be setting up its first post-production facility in Mumbai. The Netflix Mumbai post-production suite will be fully operational by June 2022. It will be Netflix’s first fully-owned, full-service post-production facility for live-action movies and TV series worldwide.
Vijay Venkataramanan, Director, Post-Production, Netflix India, said, “We are excited that Mumbai will be home to this wonderful creative space. This reinforces our commitment to India’s entertainment industry as we continue to empower creators with the best resources to tell great stories.”
The new facility will have 40 offline editing suites. These will have all the advanced modern technologies that can be flexible and inspiring work environments for show-runners, directors, designers, and editors.
Netflix that also has its Indian headquarters in Mumbai said in an official blog post, “We want to continue to contribute to the Indian creative community. Our goal is to keep improving the overall experience for our talent and industry partners and equip them with the best resources to tell authentic stories in the most engaging manner. We are in a golden age of entertainment in India — this is the best time to be a creator and consumer of great stories.”
The streaming giant began releasing locally produced originals in 2018. It all started with hit crime thriller Sacred Games. Since then, it has gone on to work with some popular Bollywood production houses such as: Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies, Anil Kapoor’s AKFC, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
At present they are geared up for Dhanush starrer Jagame Thandhiram that premieres on June 18.
