Netflix has announced the spinoff series of Big Mouth — which is one of its most emotionally messy delights and animated pre-teen comedy show — titled Human Resources. The video streaming platform described Human Resources as a workplace comedy inside the world of Big Mouth’s hormone monsters.
For the unversed who is still confused about Netflix’s upcoming animated series, Kroll and Maya Rudolph both voice Hormone Monsters, beast-ish creatures who serve as biology-fueled guides for puberty-stricken characters like Nick Birch (Kroll) and Jessi Klein (Jessi Glaser).
The announcement of Human Resources comes as the result of a big ol’ overall deal between the creators and Netflix that also renewed Big Mouth through season 6. Since Big Mouth debuted in the year 2017, it has emerged as one of the best things in the comedy-sphere, a gross-out fluid-filled look at the awkwardness we all went through in middle school that also manages to find time to be touching and intelligent.
Confirming the news, Nick Kroll said while announcing the new series during the “Big Mouth” New York Comic-Con panel, “So there was a question earlier about Monster World, and if we’re going to do more of that, and we’re actually going to do a lot more than that.”
“We’re going to make it after we make Season 5 of ‘Big Mouth,’” Kroll added. “We are incredibly excited to tell a lot of different kinds of stories, not just about puberty, but of all the different stories of life.”
According to reports, the animated series features voice work from John Mulaney, Jenny Slate, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, and Jordan Peele.
